Welcome to Slice of Life Sunday -
a meme dedicated to preserving the accounts of events cut out of the lives of average people just like you from all over the word.
Wikipedia defines a slice of life story as “a category for a story that portrays a “cut-out” sequence of events in a character’s life.” It has also been defined as an “episode of actual experience represented realistically and with little alteration in a dramatic, fictional, or journalistic work.” (cp. Answers.com).
Like having ice cream with your pie, there is more to this meme than meets the eye - it’s a meme a` la mode! This meme has a larger goal in mind in addition to providing a venue for your desire to write. Please read About Me and this Meme to see how participating in Slice of Life Sunday could lead to further publishing of your writing. Then take a moment to read over the following options. Close your eyes and turn off your connections with the current world around you, and allow your thoughts to wander through the recesses of your memories. There you will find a life experience that you have been waiting to share or possibly need to revisit. Now write it. There is no need for fancy words, don’t run and get the thesaurus, just write the truth… a slice of your life
Slice of Life choices for the week of May 11, 2008 are:
1. Mother.
2. Getting a driver’s license.
3. A cooking experience.
You have all week to write your Slice of Life story. Once you have posted your Slice of Life Sunday story on your blog, come back and leave a comment with the url to your post. My true desire is for each of us to harvest wisdom from both the joy of reliving the good memories in our lives and the strength gained from gleening what we can from the not-so-good memories and then putting them away for good. If you see a previous prompt you would like to write about, please do so and let me know.
