Slice of Life - week 8
You are more than welcome to submit your Slice of Life story on any or all of the following prompts even though they are from a past week post. As a writer, I know I do my best writing when I write about a prompt that “gets to me” instead of forcing a write on a specific prompt during a specific time frame.
Slice of Life choices for the week of May 11, 2008 were:
1. Mother.
2. Getting a driver’s license.
3. A cooking experience.
Once you have posted your Slice of Life Sunday story on your blog, come back and leave a comment with the url to your post. My true desire is for each of us to harvest wisdom from both the joy of reliving the good memories in our lives and the strength gained from gleening what we can from the not-so-good memories and then putting them away for good. If you see a previous prompt you would like to write about, please do so and let me know.

My first cooking experience is served!

I wrote about my mom last Monday at Small Reflections and am happy to sign your Mr. Linky with that piece. The story of how I got my Driver’s License is a good one … and I’ll try to share it sometime this week then return to sign the Mr. Linky again.
Happy Mothers Day to you!
Hugs and blessings,
~~ Thank you for sharing such a beautiful tribute to your mother. I remember my mom always had set days for certain chores too. My grandmother always did her laundry on Mondays and ironing on Tuesday. I have seen several old calendars displaying this also. I wonder why Monday would be laundry day? Cricket

Hmm … your Mr. Linky set up works differently than I’m used to, but after leaving a comment at your other blog and discovering I can leave a ‘link’ … I’ve returned to do just that. I mis-remembered. Monday’s post was about my brother. The piece about my Mom was a Tuesday post: Memories of my Mom
Hugs and blessings,
~~ Ahh, My Brother is a prompt coming up very soon here. You are ahead of me! Cricket

Hello! I found you a couple of weeks ago, and think I would like to join you on your journey.
OK - I am really a week behind. The link is for last week’s sisters thoughts. I’ll try to catch up this week. http://quiltbabe8.blogspot.com/2008/05/my-first-intimation-that-life-with.html
~~Hi Diane and Welcome to Slice of Life. Your story reminded me of a similar situation with my daughter and my son. Kelli was 3 when Jamie was born and she soon became disenchanted with his addition to the family. And like your mother, I also scolded her for singing too loudly when he was sleeping. I had forgotten that I had handled that situation in that manner. I can clearly see now I should have taken a softer approach and maybe she wouldn’t have been so threatened by him. Thank you for the insight. Cricket

I did a cooking experience too.

Now I am coming to read everyone else’s.
~~Selma, this was such a delightful story to read. What a wonderful childhood memory! Isn’t it a shame so many families of today miss out on the bonding a kitchen table can bring to their family? Cricket

Just found your weekly meme. I wrote about my mother just over a week ago, so will share it here. It can be found at http://alienadventurereports.blogspot.com/2008/05/not-like-my-mother.html
Going to have a think about the current prompt and will post back later.
~~Hi Terrie, I just read your tribute to your mother and it has made such a difference in my attitude about my mother. I have a ways to go, but I am coming to terms with the relationship I had with my mother. Thank you so much! Cricket
