The Pie Safe

I remember well the pie safe from my grandmother’s kitchen. As a child, I found it odd a cupboard would be called a safe because there was no money kept inside. But as an adult, I now realize this piece of furniture contained something much more valuable than money . . . it held the love my grandmother baked into each piece of pie or cake or loaf after loaf of bread she made with her very own hands. And just as my grandmother’s pie safe kept the slices of her tasty treasures safe until time to be served, so will my pie safe provide safe storage for the Slice of Life Sunday entries until they are ready to be published.
