Baked Strawberry Pie

My grandmother always had a strawberry patch. Even when she moved from the farm, she dug up the strawberry plants and took them with her like they were fine china or cherished photos. She had many recipes for strawberry desserts, but this is one of my favorites. I was surprised to learn that very few people have had Baked Strawberry Pie.

  • 2 (9 inch) unbaked pie crusts
  • 1 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons butter

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Place one crust in a nine inch pie pan.
  2. Mix together sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Mix lightly through the berries. Pour filling into pastry lined pan, and dot fruit with butter. Cover with top crust, and cut slits in the top. Seal and flute the edges.
  3. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the crust is slightly browned.

  1. This recipe was just OK. Not much different tasting than a peach pie or an apple pie that I have made. The cinnamon took away the strawberry taste almost completely. I think I’ll look for a different one next time.

  2. I completey disagree with the other review from Amanda…

This pie was amazing and very different from the the usual apple or peach pies I’ve had. I’m not sure whether fresh picked strawberries were the key ingredient – but the cinammon did not over power the fresh strawberry taste. There was nothing better than this pie fresh from the oven the same day the berries were picked !!

  5. This is a great recipe! Strawberries are a great deal in the grocery now and I had bought way too many. I’ve never baked a strwberry pie before and this was simple and so delicious that my husband asked if I’d make another!

  6. I just tried this recipe (I made it gluten free) and it’s delicious. I thought the cinnamon brought out the flavor of the strawberries. Thanks so much!
